Heroes Breakfast
On behalf of the 174th Fighter Wing Base Honor Guard, SMSgt Melinda Haines and TSgt James Jarmacz accepts the Military Hero Award, presented by Ellen Mitchell of Lockheed-Martin at the Red Cross Real Heroes Breakfast, held at the Oncenter Convention Center Complex on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. The primary mission of the base honor guard is to provide military funeral honors for active duty, retired members, and veterans. The 174th Fighter Wing Base Honor Guard consists of 52 volunteers from Hancock Field.

Sean Meyer won 2nd Place for in the History Fair for his project on the 174th Fighter Wing. Sean requested an interview with Director of Staff, Lt. Col. MaryJo Timpano, and was given a lot of information and a tour of the base. He took that knowledge and created a fabulous display, including the painted runway he made from cardboard.

Final Take-off
The first F-16 fighter jets taxi out to the runway for takeoff from Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, Syracuse, NY. Two F-16 fighter jets left Hancock Field, and will find a new home at Edwards Air Force Base, California. This signifies the 174th Fighter Wing's transition to the MQ-9 Reaper mission.
