Final Taxi
The first F-16 fighter jets taxi out to the runway for takeoff from Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, Syracuse, NY. Two F-16 fighter jets left Hancock Field, and will find a new home at Edwards Air Force Base, California. This signifies the 174th Fighter Wing's transition to the MQ-9 Reaper mission. Family members of the 174th Fighter Wing gather in front of the hanger, awaiting the return of their loved ones. The airmen and women of the 174th were deployed to South West Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit was deployed in early June for combat deployment. Operation Iraqi Freedom
Children make signs for their loved ones' return from an overseas deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Family Readiness Group at Hancock Field supplied the children with the paper and markers. The deployers are members of the 174th Fighter Wing, who who are returning from the unit's last deployment using F-16s.
