Hancock Field personnel lend a hand
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Timothy Lane and Master Sgt. Mark McAfee of the 174th Fighter Wing help a woman with toys and food that were provided by the Salvation Army at the OnCenter in Syracuse, New York on 22 Dec 2010. Personnel from Hancock Field Air National Guard Base have supported the Salvation Army's Christmas Bureau Distribution Day for numerous years. Eligible low-income families receive a book, a toy and a stocking stuffer for each child in their family. In addition, each family receives a holiday food basket that contains a turkey and all the fixings for a holiday dinner along with extra food to help them feed their children during the school break.

Master Sgt. Brent Forbes Wins Safety Award

Airman Pfeifer receives Real Hero Award
Airman Bryan Pfeifer (front left), a member of the 174th Fighter Wing Security Forces Squadron, receives the 2010 Military Real Hero Award from the American Red Cross, Central New York chapter, at a breakfast held on December 1, 2010. Airman Pfeifer was recognized for stopping his car on the way to Hancock Field after seeing a violent accident on Route 31 and removing a victim who was trapped in his car. He provided CPR until medical personnel arrived.
