Toys for Tots campaign by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves
This year marks the 62nd anniversary of the Toys for Tots campaign by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. The students of Brewerton Elementary exceeded last year’s totals by donating over 250 gifts to help make the holidays a little brighter for less fortunate children. Several members from the 174th FW Air National Guard graciously came to pick up the toys and deliver them to the Marines. Brewerton Elementary students from Mrs. Potter’s class pictured are Kassidy Schad, Chris Picciott, Nicole Henry, and Drew Staats. A1C Jeff Allen and SrA Kyle Potter are members of the 174th Fighter Wing as well as former students at Brewerton Elementary.

Hometown Heroes Award Ceremony

Hometown Heroes Award Ceremony
Chief Master Sgt. David D. Heckman, 174FW Command Chief Master Sgt. and Master Sgt. Mary A. Oaksford, 174FW First Sergeant present the Hometown Heroes Plaque to Col. Kevin W. Bradley, 174 Fighter Wing Commander, and his wife, Karen. Col. Bradley has deployed many times most recently in 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The American Red Cross 11th Annual Real Heroes Breakfast, was held on Wednesday, Dec 2, at the OnCenter in Syracuse, NY.
Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Paul Schempp (Former 174th Fighter Wing Commander) received the Military Real Hero Award for his work over the past decade leading the Central New York Field Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Schempp was lauded for building and sustaining one of the strongest ESGR Field Committees in the nation and facilitating exceptional communications among employers, Reservists and military commanders. 1,000 guests watched the presentation of Real Heroes Awards in nine categories - ordinary men and women who took extraordinary action to save a life or help someone in need.
