Friends and relatives of 174th Fighter Wing members came out to celebrate Family Day Sept. 7, 2008.
Family day is an annual event which allows Airmen to show their loved ones around base and provides an enjoyable and entertaining opportunity to thank them for their support.
Visitors had a chance to experience an obstacle course, Tug-of-War, Ball crawl, games and more.

There were multiple tugs-of-war contests, including the annual "Chiefs versus Colonels" that is the most fun-filled and highly anticipated event each year.
The day included hot dogs and popcorn with lemonade and tea. There were informational booths sponsored by family programs, the Veterans Administration, USAA and Military OneSource, and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program and many more. Entertainment at the event included DJ music, clown and balloons, and face painting.
Kids and family members enjoyed themselves in events such as a bungee run and inflatable bounce house. There were also many games for the smaller kids to enjoy, including a bean bag toss and ping pong ball toss.
Family members are an integral part of the Guard members' lives and the day gives family members an opportunity to get a sense of how the 174th includes them. The day gives the servicemembers a chance to thank their families for their support during the unit members' various deployments throughout the year.
The Family Readiness Group provides training and maintains an effective family readiness system within the unit. For more information regarding family support services offered by the 174th Fighter Wing, please contact Terri.Scanlin@nysyra.ang.af.mil.
