I wanted to take the time today to talk to the Hancock Field community about one of the major events that will be taking place over the October UTA. As most of you know, the weekend is going to be jam-packed with distinguished visitors, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and family day. But some of you may not have heard of the Hancock Field Heritage Celebration, or if you did hear about it, you might be wondering: "why should I go?" I hope that by the time you finish reading this, you will be intrigued and excited to join us for a world-class celebration of our Past, Present, and Future!

Let me start off by clearing the air and saying this is not a formal event. This is a relaxed, casual event designed for our members, both past and present, to enjoy a night out with their significant other or guest. You are invited to wear any of the following: civilian casual attire (nice slacks and a collared shirt), any current uniform (Blues, BDUs, ABUs), or you can wear any past uniform.

The hangar will be decorated and filled with memorabilia from that of yesteryear, along with displays of all the airplanes we can get our hands on! We have also worked on a magnificent short video that will chronicle the past 60+ year of Hancock Field. Of course, what celebration would be complete without plenty of food to eat? Well we got that covered, too! There will be a catered meal with plenty of options that will be sure to satisfy everyone's tastes. There will also be a cash bar that will be open throughout the night.

We will also have a few important guests that are extremely excited about Hancock Field, our new mission, and spending time with the men and woman that have a reputation for being the very best in the Air Force. These guests include: Lt. Gen. Wyatt, the Director of the Air National Guard and CMSgt. Muncy, the Air National Guard Command Chief.

This event is a joint effort of two of your leading base councils: the Enlisted Council and the Chief's Council, in conjunction with Chapter 50. These two councils are committed to our mission as a Wing and the welfare and well-being of our fellow airmen. So come on, have a night out...laugh and tell a few stories...and maybe a joke or two! I promise the Hancock Field Heritage Celebration will be one event that won't soon be forgotten!

To purchase your tickets for $20 each, please see your section Chief before the end of the September UTA.
