The Air National Guard’s (ANG) priority is to first respond to PFOS/PFOA contamination in drinking water to protect human health.
There are no known PFOS/PFOA drinking water impacts, either on or off-base, from Hancock Field ANG operations.
There are currently no known public water supply wells on the base and the shallow groundwater system in the area of the base is not used as a source of drinking water. There are no public water supply wells within one mile of the base. The Onondaga County Water Authority provides water service to the area surrounding Hancock Field and obtains water from Skaneateles Lake, Otisco Lake, and Lake Ontario.
